Broad Ripple and Fountain Square answer with small tickets. The local pour is a bourbon cocktail or a cheap draft, depending on the side of the Mile Square.

Downtown pours local spirits

Harry & Izzy's on Illinois Street posts Sunday–Thursday 4–6 PM with $5 off wines by the glass, $5 off all Barkeep Vodka cocktails, $5 off all Rare Saint Whiskey cocktails, $5 off all Hiatus Tequila cocktails, $5 off all 8th Day Distillery Gin cocktails, and $5 off all draft beer. The same sheet prices calamari $13, grilled slab bacon $13, guacamole $8, and pepperoni pizza $10. The Indiana names on that list are the point: 8th Day Distillery makes bourbon, gin, and rum on the near east side of downtown Indy, pouring from a bottle shop and cocktail bar on Brookside Avenue.

Mass Ave keeps it short

The Fountain Room at 830 Massachusetts Ave posts Monday–Friday 4–6 PM. The board prices draft beer pints $6, house wine 6oz $8, Buffalo Trace Bourbon Old Fashioned $12, Wheatley Vodka Dirty Martini $12, and beer + shot $10. Food prints oysters $3, sliders $7, truffle fries $10, and guacamole $10. Two hours, firm prices, supper-club room. That is the Mass Ave formula.

Broad Ripple and Fountain Square go cheap

Social Cantina Broad Ripple on College Avenue posts Sunday–Thursday 3–6 PM with a $6 marg of the month, $2 Lunazul, $3 The Tap Social Lager pint, and $5 Tito's Mule. South in Fountain Square, The Brass Ring Lounge on Shelby Street posts daily 4–6 with $3 bar-brand vodka, gin, rum, whiskey, and tequila pours, a $3 Old Style pint, and $3 Sambuca. Agave on the north side, well drinks on the south side. Both keep the ticket under dinner money.

How to drink it like a local

  • Downtown, 4 PM: steakhouse bar (Harry & Izzy's) inside the Sunday–Thursday 4–6 window. Order the Indiana whiskey pour.
  • Mass Ave, 5 PM: supper-club bar (Fountain Room) before 6. Old Fashioned if you drink bourbon, draft pint if you do not.
  • North or south, late: Broad Ripple margarita (Social Cantina) or Fountain Square well drink (Brass Ring). Check the posted window first.
